Islamic doctrine, which emphasises God's unity, is perfectly captured in this painting. The main tenet of the faith, "La Ilaha Ilallah—There is no god but God," is reiterated. The canvas is decorated with handwritten iterations of the Shahadah that resemble pilgrims encircling the holy Kaabah. A pleasing atmosphere is created by the golden inscriptions that surround the Kaabah against a background of green and brown.
