Every year, thousands of Londoners and tourists attend the London Eid Festival at Trafalgar Square, hosted by the Mayor of London. The event is a celebration of the end of Ramadan and as well as plenty of stalls there’s always an exciting stage lineup, plenty of food stalls and areas for families to turn up and enjoy a great day out.
The sun was shining and we had a fantastic pitch right outside the National Gallery. As well as displaying some of Siddiqas well known pieces, it was also an opportunity to display new work, such as Dhikr 2017 and Siddiqa’s latest Dome of the Rock painting.
As this was a family day out and Siddiqa loves an opportunity to get the public painting, she put together a London version of ‘Make Your Mark’ and throughout the day members of the public contributed their brush skills to build up the painting.
Siddiqa was honoured to also invite Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and world famous nasheed artist and Yusuf Islam to make their mark and introduce them to her art.
All in all it was a fantastic day out in the centre of London. A perfect opportunity to interact with people from all faiths and backgrounds and to talk to them about the work and also about the celebration of Eid and how much it means to us.
